Piotr Tomaszewski was appointed the President of the Management Board of the Bank Guarantee Fund on March 9, 2020. He is responsible for the functioning of the Fund as a whole. Supervises Resolution Department, Resolution Planning Department, Treasury Department, Audit Department, HR Department as well as Internal Audit and Office of the Management Board. He also sits on the Financial Supervision Authority Board as the Fund’s representative.
Piotr Tomaszewski has been associated with banking industry since 1992..Initially he worked at Bank Ochrony Środowiska, and in 1999 he joined BZ WBK (later Santander Bank Polska), where he held directorships. He participated in the merger processes of Bank Zachodni SA with Wielkopolski Bank Kredytowy SA, Bank Zachodni WBK SA with Kredyt Bank SA, as well as in M&A projects in the field of brokerage and investment activities.
He managed the area of Bancassurance and Investment Products in the bank structure, as well as projects in the field of corporate banking in cooperation with Allied Irish Banks. He was also a member of the supervisory boards of PROBUD S.A. and MORPOL S.A. He participated in the IPO of the latter company at the Oslo Stock Exchange.
In 2017, he became the Director of Santander Brokerage House, and from 2016 he sat on the Supervisory Board of Santander TFI. In 2019, he joined the Council of the Polish Chamber of Brokerage Houses.
He graduated in foreign trade at the University of Gdańsk. He also participated in managerial programs for Santander’s top management – Advance Leadership Program at the ICAN Institute at the Harvard Business Review publishing house, as well as Santander Escuela in Madrid.
