Assistance Activity »

General information

Aside from deposit guarantees, the Bank Guarantee Fund provides financial assistance aimed at preventing bankruptcies of banks, through financing the implementation of restructuring programmes for banks facing the danger of insolvency.

The assistance activity is financed from the BGF's own funds accumulated under the assistance fund. This fund is fed by annual fees incurred by banks covered by the guarantee system, and by the repayment of previously granted loans.

An additional source of assistance granted by the Fund is the funds accumulated as part of the Cooperative Banks Restructuring Fund (CBRF), provided by Bank Gospodarki Żywnościowej S.A. and banks affiliating cooperative banks on the basis of the Act on the Operation of Cooperative Banks, their Affiliation, and Affiliating Banks of 7 December 2000.
